Together We’ll Ascend

Simple, yet profound.

While preparing to support three of our young adult daughters in simultaneous major life changes, I received a text message quote from my mother.

“We ask for strength, and He gives us mountains to climb.”

That statement rang true to my soul.

It is through our experiences, and most often through the difficult experiences, that Christlike characteristics can be formed.

So, like Caleb of old, we can stand tall in the face of challenges and state, “Give me this mountain.” (Joshua 14:12)

How? How could Caleb stand with such confidence before the Lord?

Well, Caleb had 85 years of seeing the Lord’s hand in his personal existence. He knew we don’t climb the mountain alone. Undoubtedly, Caleb had also seen that “through your continual faith and best efforts, you will develop skills, gifts and strengths you need more quickly. You will feel the help of the Lord.”1

And so I turned to hug my daughters as they set off to ascend new, formidable, but do-able peaks.

They do not climb alone.
